This song is my perception of that line we’ll all cross, at some point, for money. It deals specifically with the idea that someone who can procure any price can silence any physical or emotional harm they do to anyone else. Money can be such a powerful evil, because of the value we assign to it. This song is begging the listener to
always value one’s self above money, and to never
willingly let someone silence your voice with it. -GB
lyrics
Where do we draw the line? / the line that separates our perceived wrong from right / a line we draw with dollar signs / and let them penetrate / if they procure the price /
THE PRICE OF FEELING SO LOW / THE PRICE OF THEIR HANDS ON OUR THROATS / THE PRICE OF WANTING TO DIE / AND THE PRICE OF THE TEARS IN OUR EYES / THE LOSS OF OUR WILL TO SURVIVE / THE DEATH OF OUR SPIRIT INSIDE / CAN WE BEAR THIS LIFE THAT WE’VE CONTRIVED / THE ONE WE CAN NEVER CONFIDE /
We’ll hide behind the lies / the lies we tell ourselves / that everything’s alright / the lies that are what they imply / that money makes us numb to / the pain that we feel inside /
THE PAIN OF FEELING SO LOW / THE GROWING LACK OF CONTROL / THE PAIN OF WANTING TO DIE / AND THE PAIN OF THE FEAR IN OUR EYES / THE LOSS OF OUR WILL TO SURVIVE / THE DEATH OF OUR SPIRIT INSIDE / CAN WE BEAR THIS LIFE THAT WE’VE CONTRIVED / THE ONE WE CAN NEVER CONFIDE /
They’ll buy your silence / and they’ll leave you with nothing / IS MONEY WHAT YOU LIVE FOR? / AND IS IT WORTH THIS EMPTINESS YOU FEEL?
