The Lord of Greed is my perception of the damaged caused when organized religion is correlated with big business. Molding someone’s beliefs and then
exploiting them to the greatest extent. Preaching the
devaluation of money, with the sole intention, of giving the least back possible to their followers, and keeping the most for themselves. Throughout the song, I delve into my biggest question, “Can I help them see what’s happening to them?”, that they are “being exploited”. -GB
lyrics
Today / I pray / look to the sky / living a lie / Are noble hearts
consumed / exploited till we’re useless / then cast into the sea / and loyal still we’ll be / his answers we don’t question / as we follow blindly / the lies we cannot see /
CAUSE THE SHEPHERD’S LEADING US IN CIRCLES / LOST LIKE ALL THE SHEEP THAT HE LEADS / AND ENDLESSLY I SEARCH FOR ANSWERS / I’M SEARCHING FOR THE MISSING PIECES / THAT SAVE THE SHEEP FROM BEING SLAUGHTERED /
SACRIFICED IN GREED WE PRAY /
They tell them money doesn’t matter / as they slave away / dedicating their lives / so they’ll one day be free / the lord of greed enslaves the sheep / sheds their blood to fuel his need / bleeds them till they’re left with nothing / and wastes their life away /
THE SHEPHERD’S JUST A SHEEP IN SHEPHERD’S CLOTHING / LOST LIKE ALL THE SHEEP THAT HE’S TO LEAD / AND FOR ALL THE SHEEP I HAVE COMPASSION / FOR THEY MUST WADE THESE TROUBLED WATERS / AND I KNOW THEY’LL NEVER REACH THE SHORELINE / SACRIFICED IN GREED THEY PRAY /
Today / I pray / that they’ll see the light / before they die.
