about

Seventeen is my perception of dealing with breakups when you’re young. It’s a story of a young boy who tries to commit suicide after his girlfriend breaks up with him. That first taste of heartbreak is really tough for most, and for some, it never gets easier. No one likes when someone they love leaves them, and sometimes it feels impossible to escape that pain. The main message is to not dwell on it for too long, don’t give up on yourself. Find a way to focus that pain into helping others who are feeling that same disappointment, instead of using it to damage you. -GB

lyrics

Lets stop pretending / that we don’t breath the same air / that this life is unfair only to you / she thinks in her head / as she tries to calm him / his troubled mind a mess from what she said /
that she’s movin’ on

He sits in his room and weeps alone / he’ll wipe the tears to check the phone / for messages that she no longer sends / we’ll still be friends / it stares him down with no reply / so he grabs a knife / cause life ain’t worth living in / so he sticks it in /

SOMETIMES YOU CANT ESCAPE THE PAIN OF LOSING HOPE / WHEN THERE’S NOONE ELSE TO BLAME / WHEN SHE CAN’T TAKE AWAY YOUR PAIN / SOMETIMES THIS LIFE WILL TAKE THE ONES WE THINK WE NEED / DON’T GIVE UP SON / YOU’RE ONLY SEVENTEEN /

He wakes in a bright white room alone / he screams out loud / am I alive? / a man walks in and sits down next to him / and says hey friend / I know you’re young / and that’s okay / but life is not about what you can lose / but what you can give /

SOMETIMES YOU CANT ESCAPE THE PAIN OF LOSING HOPE / WHEN THERE’S NOONE ELSE TO BLAME / WHEN SHE CAN’T TAKE AWAY YOUR PAIN / SOMETIMES THIS LIFE WILL TAKE THE ONES WE THINK WE NEED / DON’T GIVE UP SON / YOU’RE ONLY SEVENTEEN.
